Cavalry FC goalkeeper Marco Carducci has been named in Canadian national teams roster as it prepares to meet Cuba twice, Sept. 7 and Sept. 10, in the Concacaf Nations League.

Carducci is the first Canadian Premier League player to get called up to the men’s national team.

“Marco is deserving of this opportunity, and has shown his high level ability game in game out this season in the CPL and our Canadian Championship run,” said Tommy Wheeldon Jr. , Cavalry FC head coach. “He is the ultimate professional that has represented Canada at the youth levels and now gets the chance to be involved at the full international level, based on his club performances.

“Hopefully he’s blazing a trail for many other young Canadian players and showing the importance of playing in meaningful games week in week out”.

From his establishment through McKenzie United community soccer and Calgary Villains program, Carducci, left home as a 14-year old to pursue his dreams of playing professional soccer later landing on the Vancouver Whitecaps roster.

He was a key member of the Calgary Foothills FC PDL National Championship winning team in 2018, prior to becoming one of Cavalry FC’s inaugural signings. Carducci has previously represented Canada at the U17, U20 and U23 levels.
