Atlético Ottawa opened the Canadian Premier League season with a 1-0 victory over FC Edmonton in Winnipeg Saturday.
Viti Martínez scored the game’s lone goal in the 82nd minute with an effort from outside the box.
Saturday’s match was preceded by a special land blessing and acknowledgement ceremony with league and players acknowledging the history of residential schools in Canada.
