Senegal boosted their chances of reaching the World Cup knockout stage with a dominant 5-0 victory over a 10-man Iraq team in Toronto Friday.
Senegal bounced back defeats to France and Norway to finish third in Group I with three points. This result moves Senegal up to fifth place among the third-placed teams, keeping them in contention for the last 32 and pushing Scotland down to ninth.
However, with only eight third-placed teams advancing, Senegal must still rely on external match results to officially secure their spot in the next round.
