Vancouver Whitecaps beat CF Montréal 5-0 at BC Place Saturday to claim their first three points of the 2023 Major League Soccer season.
The game started quite frantic, with several sloppy and sometimes aggressive challenges by both teams.
The game opened up completely in the 23rd minute when Montréal defender Rudy Camacho saw a red card for allegedly pulling down Simon Becher just outside the box.
It only took the Whitecaps 15 minutes to benefit from the man advantage when Brian White converted across from Simon Becher. Two quick goals followed in the first-half from Becher and Julian Gressel. The home side continued their dominance after the break with Ali Ahmed and Becher, again, adding to the goal tally. The win moves the Whitecaps up to 9th place in the Western Conference. Montreal sit bottom of the Eastern Conference.
