The Vancouver FC faithful finally saw a home victory at Willoughby Park in Langley with the home side claiming a 2-0 victory over Canadian Premier League title holders Forge FC Tuesday.
Hamilton’s Forge took the initiative early, but Vancouver goalkeeper Callum Irving, made a series of saves frustrating the Forge attacks.
And despite Forge’s dominance of possession, it was Vancouver’s teenager Taryck Tahid who opened the scoring in the 35th minute.
Forge were affected by the opening goal that came against the run of play. And the visitors conceded again four minutes later when Ameer Ala’a Khadim Kinani rounded keeper Tristan Henry to slot home.
With the bottom five teams all within two pints of each other, this win will give hope to coach Afshin Ghotbi that he can pull this team back into the playoff race.
