Vancouver Whitecaps beat Pacific FC 3-0 on Vancouver Island Wednesday to advance to the Canadian Championship final against CF Montreal.
Julian Gressel, Ali Ahmed and Simon Becher scored to give the visitors a comfortable win.
But the match may be most remembered for a frightening moment that occurred in the first half.
The Whitecaps’ Ali Ahmed was taken to hospital after losing consciousness after a hard tackle by Pacific‘s Cédric Toussaint. Ahmed landed awkwardly and his head hit the playing surface after being cut down by Toussaint.
Thankfully, the Whitecaps announced via social media that Ahmed was conscious and was cleared to travel with the team back to Vancouver later in the evening.
