Canadian Premier League club Pacific FC were beaten 1-0 by Major League Soccer’s Vancouver Whitecaps in the first leg of their Canadian Championship semifinal in Victoria Wednesday.
Ryan Gauld scored the only goal of the match in the 58th minute. And Whitecaps keeper Isaac Boehmer made some saves late on to preserve the one-goal lead heading into the second leg.
“We never thought it was going to be easy,” admitted Boehmer after the match. “But we just came, we did what we needed to do and we’re ready for the second leg.”
The second leg is scheduled for Aug. 27 in Vancouver.
