Valour FC and York9 FC played the first goalless draw at the Canadian Premier League Island Games Saturday.

The result lifts Valour FC to third place for the time being, while the stalemate was York9 FC’s third draw of the tournament.

Despite the lacklustre result Valour coach Rob Gale was pleased with their players performances.

“No qualms with what the lads left out there today because we’ve had the toughest schedule of anybody,” said Gale on onesoccer.ca after the match. “I thought we contained them very well. A point’s a fair result. To keep a clean sheet, I’m delighted.”

And York9 FC’s coach was similarly satisfied.

“We had some good spells in the match,” said York9 FC coach Jim Brennan. “We had a few chances. On a better day they might have gone in. It’s just that final ball (where) we have to be better.”

Valour FC next play Pacific FC Tuesday, while York9 FC face Forge FC Wednesday.
