Cavalry FC beat Vancouver Island’s Pacific FC 4-1 in the Canadian Premier League at Spruce Meadows Sunday afternoon.

José Escalante scored a brace and Oliver Minatel and Dominique Malonga each scored once as Calgary’s club won comfortably in the end. Terran Campbell scored a penalty for Pacific FC’s only tally.

“We talked about September being the month where we got to work on some things, we got bodies healthy,” said Tommy Wheeldon Jr., Cavalry FC head coach. “And today you saw a performance that was deserving of how we’ve trained. I think the fans deserve that. Today I thought we were very good.”

The result takes Cavalry FC top of the CPL fall season table, tied on points with Hamilton’s Forge FC, but ahead on goal difference. Pacific FC sits in fifth place.

Cavalry FC next travel to Ontario to face York9 FC next Saturday, while Pacific FC play Forge FC next weekend.
