Cavalry FC beat Winnipeg’s Valour FC 2-0 to secure its first victory of the Canadian Premier League’s Island games in P.E.I. Sunday. The win arrived three days after the Cavs drew 2-2 with 2019 CPL champions Forge FC in the tournament’s opener.
New arrival Marcus Haber scored his first goal for his new club in the 29th minute. The Canadian international striker connected well with a Mohamed Farsi cross to give the Cavs the lead. Four minutes later Sergio Camargo converted a penalty kick to give Cavalry FC the two-goal lead they wouldn’t relinquish.
Cavalry FC next play FC Edmonton Thursday, while Valour FC play Atlético Ottawa Wednesday.
