In Pictures: Cavalry FC loses for the first time at the hands of Forge FC

Cavalry FC suffered its first loss of the inaugural Canadian Premier League season at the hands of Forge FC at ATCO Field at Spruce Meadows Saturday afternoon. The visitors earned a 1-0 victory over the CPL leaders thanks to a Kyle Bekker strike in the 5th minute.

The result closes the gap between the two teams to two points. Cavalry still have two games to find the three points that would secure the Spring season and earn the first CPL Championship berth. However, the Calgary club will earn the championship spot if Forge FC are unable with win its final game of the Spring season this week.

The two-legged CPL Championship is to be played in October and November, following the Fall season that begins in July and ends in October.

Cavalry FC‘s next Canadian Premier League match is away to York9 FC Wednesday, June 26. Forge FC’s next match is against FC Edmonton the same day.
