Cavalry FC loses third straight, Forge FC moves top of the table – in photos

Forge FC beat Cavalry FC 2-1 at ATCO Field in Calgary to move atop the Canadian Premier League table Wednesday.

Cavalry FC started strong, with Joe Mason scoring in the 1st minute with a header off a corner kick.

But the visitors responded well with Woobens Pacius equalizing in the 37th minute. And Forge FC took the lead shortly after the break when Kyle Bekker scored in the 49th minute.

Forge FC expertly managed the remainder of the game to earn the three points, limiting the hosts to only a handful of half chances.

“I think we started well, and I think we ended well,” said Cavalry FC head coach Tommy Wheeldon Jr. “But that sandwich in between, they were better than us.”

Cavalry FC next face FC Edmonton Saturday, while Forge FC visits Atlético Ottawa Sunday.
