Canada beat French Guiana 4-2 in New Jersey Friday, to earn their first three points of the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup group stage.  The victory was Canada’s first at the competition since 2011.

Canada‘s much-talked-about 16-year-old attacker Alphonso Davies scored his first two goals for his adopted country.  Dejan Jakovic and Scott Arfield also scored.

Canada face stiffer tests in their next two Gold Cup matches against Costa Rica, July 11, and Honduras, July 14. But thanks to Friday’s result Octavio Zambrano’s men currently find themselves atop Group A.
