Canada earned a point against Costa Rica in their second match at 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup in Houston Tuesday, as Canada’s teenage winger Alphonso Davies scored his third goal of the tournament.

The two sides finished 1-1. The result means Canada continues to sit atop the Group A standings, ahead of Costa Rica on goal difference.

Canada won their first match 4-2 against French Guiana and will face Honduras in their final match of the opening round Friday, July 14.

16-year-old winger Alphonso Davies went off in the second-half with an apparent ankle injury but is expected to make a quick recovery and return for Friday’s match.

With four points from two matches, this would appear to be one of Canada’s best opportunities to qualify for the second round of the Gold Cup since they last made it to the knockout stages in 2009.
