Canada unveils 2026 World Cup squad

Canada announced the 26 players who will who will represent Canada at the World Cup this summer Friday.

There are few surprises in coach Jesse Marsch’s roster as stars Alphonso Davies and Jonathan David headline Canada’s third-ever men’s World Cup squad.

“It is an honour to name our squad for a World Cup on home soil.,” said Marsch via a statement Friday. “These players reflect the many communities, cultures, and journeys that make up this country.

“They are determined, fearless, and proud to wear Canada across their chest. We look forward to uniting Canadians this summer, and we invite everyone to be part of this journey with us.”

Canada play Uzbekistan in Edmonton Monday and Ireland in Montreal Friday to finish their World Cup preparations. The co-hosts open their tournament a week later against Bosnia and Herzegovina in Toronto June 12.
