Atlético Ottawa  beat Cavalry FC 3-1 in Calgary Saturday to secure the first Canadian Premier League spot of the 2022 season.

Ballou Tabla opened the scoring for the visitors in only the 4th minute with a wonder strike from outside the box.

Cavalry FC was unable to find a reply in the first half despite dominating possession. And the hosts fell further behind in the second half when Brian Wright scored for Ottawa in 54th minute.

José Escalante scored a penalty in the 79th minute to halve the deficit. But Malcolm Shaw put the game beyond doubt in the 86th minute to lift Ottawa into its first CPL playoffs.
