Canada women’s national soccer team were unable to repeat last year’s success in the 2017 Algarve Cup. Canada lost to Spain 1-0 in the final Wednesday.
Overall, The Canadians had a successful tournament, beating Russia, Denmark and drawing with Portugal on their way to this year’s final.
The Algarve Cup is an international tournament for national women’s soccer teams by the Portuguese Football Federation. Held yearly in the Algarve region of Portugal since 1994, it’s one of the most prestigious women’s international football events.
