Pacific FC beat Forge FC in a rematch of the 2021 Canadian Premier League final to kick off its title defence at Starlight Stadium in Victoria Sunday.

The hosts, looking sharp in their new Indigenous themed alternative kit, started off the season with an early goal by Alejandro Diaz  in the 9th minute. From there the play was fairly even throughout the game which was expected as the two teams faced each other in the league final last season.

With the Forge pressing they managed a late corner and Achinioti-Jonsson  headed in their first score of the game but it would end at 2-1 Pacific.
