The northern Toronto club will now face Atletico Ottawa in a CPL playoff quarterfinal in the nation’s capital Sunday.

“We have nothing to lose, we are a small team that wants to grow,” said Benjamín Mora, York United head coach. “We’re not built to be super champions. We are not injecting everything to be super York. We are just workers and we want to go there with the heart and with the mind and with the composure that we showed today.”

  1. What a rollercoaster of a game that was! York United fought hard (https://canpl.ca/article/cpl-newsroom-pres-by-volkswagen-york-knock-out-pacific-set-up-super-sunday-in-cpl-playoffs) but ultimately fell short in the penalty shootout against Atlético Ottawa. It’s tough after such a historic win against Pacific FC, but Oswaldo León and Molham Babouli really stepped up when it mattered. Even though they didn’t advance, it was an exciting season, and the Nine Stripes showed a lot of heart. Here’s hoping they can regroup and come back stronger next year!
