Toronto FC lose to Chicago Fire in Major League Soccer home opener – in photos

Toronto FC surrendered an early lead against Chicago Fire to slump to their third loss of the new Major League Season at BMO Field in Toronto Saturday.

The hosts sit bottom of the MLS Eastern Conference with a single point from four games after Saturday’s 2-1 home loss.

But Toronto FC head coach Robin Fraser opted for optimism during his post-match media availability.

“I’m more excited about this team right now than I have been, given the numbers of setbacks we’ve had,” said Fraser after his club’s home opener. “When the group, in my opinion, is really focused and diligent in terms of what’s being asked, we saw some really good things.

”And it’s very disappointing to have played as well as we did in spurts and then to not come out with a result.”

Forward Deandre Kerr gave Toronto FC the lead after only 11 minutes.

But TFC’s lead was short-lived. Andrew Gulman equalized for the Fire in the 29th minute before Hugo Cuypers gave the visitors the lead in the 44th minute.
