Over a week has past since USA beat Japan 5-2 in the final of FIFA Women’s World Cup Canada 2015 in Vancouver, bringing an end to the month-long tournament.
I was fortunate enough to get to most of the matches in Edmonton, Alberta, including the tournament’s opening match between Canada and China – played in front of over 53,000 fans.
I wouldn’t get the chance to shoot a match featuring Canada again – a Canadian quarter-final loss to England in Vancouver denying me the opportunity of working a Canada vs Japan semi-final on Canada Day (July 1).
But I still managed some decent games including China vs Cameroon, Australia vs Japan, Japan vs England and Germany vs England. Please check out some of my favourite photos from below.

And for anyone interested in photo gear, I used my recently purchased Sigma 120-300mm f/2.8 Sport lens mounted on a Nikon D7000 for the entire World Cup. The Sigma lens is a nice piece of equipment – solid and with a decent range of focal length that can hold 2.8 all the way through. Great for those of us looking to stretch our dollars.
