FC Edmonton look to avoid a winless record when they face Pacific FC in their final game at the Island Games. The Eddies are officially eliminated from the Canadian Premier League Island Games, but are looking to restore a measure of pride against the Vancouver Island club.

FC Edmonton record versus Pacific FC

FC Edmonton went 3-1-1 against Pacific FC last year. The Eddies posted great results winning  3-1 in each of their victories. Roster changes for both teams will make the game interesting as Pacific will have the services of Marcel De Jong back in their lineup after missing most of last year with an achilles injury.

And the Eddies will have Terique Mohammed and Hanson Boakai to test the young midfield of Zach Verhoven and Noah Verhoeven.

Pacific needs the win

Pacific FC will be looking to control their own destiny. Pacific FC sits in a three-way tie for fifth in Canadian Premier League standings. A win and 11 points overall would be enough to send them to the next round.

FC Edmonton looking for a positive, if not a win

FC Edmonton will be looking to avoid a winless record at the Island Games on Sunday. To do that they will need to make sure they keep their play simple and avoid making flashy or low percentage plays.

The Eddies are at their best when they have the lion share of the possession, pushing the opposition back, aiming to make a quick pass to the wings and spreading the defence thin to exploit the open space created.

Difference makers

Some of the crucial players for the Eddies offensively in the tournament have been Boakai, Caceres and Ongaro. Though, there have not been many scoring opportunities for them to shine. When they have had an opportunity, they have been the bright spots for FC Edmonton in the tournament. They will need to be on top of their game if FC Edmonton is going to get a result on Sunday.

FC Edmonton will play their final game of the season on September.6 th 2020 at 1pm MST/ 3pm EST on Onesoccer.
