Uruguay beat Ghana 2-0 in their final first round game of World Cup Qatar 2022 at Al Janoub Stadium in Al Wakrah, Qatar Friday. But the South Americans were still eliminated.
Giorgian de Arrascaeta scored two first-half goals after Uruguay keeper Sergio Rochet save an early penalty.
It looked like enough to send Uruguay through. But South Korea earned a late win against Portugal in Group H’s other match of the night, which moved them above Uruguay into second place.
Ghana was also eliminated from the tournament after Friday’s loss.
