Pacific FC moved up to second in the Canadian Premier League table with a big win against Atlético Ottawa in the nation’s capital Saturday.

The Vancouver Island club outscored their hosts 4-1 and now sit one point off league leaders Forge FC after four games.

Fast start for Pacific FC

Sean Young and Josh Heard gave the visitors a two-goal lead after only ten minutes of play. And Aymen Sellouf scored an impressive solo goal to take Pacific into the break three ahead.

Ollie Bassett pulled one back for Ottawa in the 52nd minute. But Pacific defender Amer Didič put the the result beyond doubt, connecting with a corner kick in the 69th minute.

“I’m very disappointed with the first half,” said Carlos Gonzalez, Atlético coach, after the match. “We made individual mistakes. Stupid mistakes. After that, you are chasing the game.

“It’s very difficult to win a game where you give stupid gifts. A game like this is a game you want to forget as soon as possible.”
