Atletico Ottawa beat Forge FC 2-0 in Canadian Premier League action in Hamilton Saturday.
Manny Aparicio and Samuel Salter scored first half goals to keep their club in the hunt for the all important second playoff place, currently occupied by Cavalry FC.
The result keeps Ottawa in contention for second place in the CPL table, while Forge FC had already secured the Canadian Premier League Shield by topping the CPL league table.
“That’s our aim, that’s our target,” said Ottawa coach Carlos González after the game. “Once we cannot be first, we have to fight to be second in the league, and I think that we deserve it. I think that we’ve done a pretty good season until now, and the team has earned this position. But at the end of the day, this is not about earning, it’s about showing it on the field.”
