10-man Vancouver FC held on for a 1-1 draw against Cavalry FC in the first-ever home game at Willoughby Community Park in Langley, BC Sunday.

Of the two teams, Cavalry had the majority of the possession, but looked no more likely to score than Vancouver.

However, the dynamic of the game changed in the 29th minute, when Rocco Romeo was shown a straight Red Card for alleged excessive use of the arm. Vancouver managed to hold out for the remainder of the first half.

It didn’t take long after the restart for Mikael Cantave to put the visitors ahead in minute 46.

Not to be outdone, Shaan Hundal levelled the score six minutes later, which gave the home team some momentum, feeling that there was some hope.

Both teams kept up the pressure, with Cavalry having the majority of the possession and shots, but neither team were able to break the deadlock.

Vancouver FC having played an hour with 10-men, must feel happy with a point. Conversely, Cavalry probably feel like it was 2-points lost.
