Pacific FC beat Valour FC 3-2 in Canadian Premier League action in Winnipeg Friday, June 14.

Pacific FC’s Sean Young converted on a penalty to open the score in the 19th minute. And Andrei Tîrcoveanu doubled the lead 14 minutes later.

Valour’s Shaan Hundal replied for the hosts to half the deficit before halftime. And Jordan Swibel drew Valour even in the 63rd minute.

But 10 minutes later Valour conceded an own goal, despite a strong push at the end of the game.

Despite the victory Pacific coach James Merriman thought his club made it more difficult for themselves than necessary.

“It’s frustrating because I think the game should be finished in the first half, with all due respect, we were very good the way we started,” said Merriman. “We’re creating chances, and we’re still missing that ruthlessness and that decisiveness to finish the game when we should.

“We deserve the three points overall, but it’s frustrating. It’s frustrating letting them back into the game.”
