Northern Super League club Montreal Roses announced the signings of its first-ever players Monday.
Midfielder Charlotte Bilbault and goalkeeper Gabrielle Lambert will join the women’s soccer club for the NSL’s inaugural season in 2025.
Montreal Roses sign former France international
French defensive midfielder Bilbault arrives in Canada after an extensive professional career in France, including stints at Montpellier, Bordeaux and Paris FC.
The 34-year-old has also made 56 appearances for the France national team between 2015 and 2023, scoring twice.
Canadian keeper comes home
Canadian keeper Lambert returns to Canada from SC Freiburg in the Frauen-Bundesliga, Germany’s top professional women’s soccer league.
Previously the 30-year-old Sainte-Hyacinthe, Quebec native spent six years in France, including stops at Montpellier and St-Étienne.
The Northern Super League is Canada’s first professional women’s soccer league. The NSL is set to kick off in spring of 2025 and currently has six clubs named for its inaugural season.
