Forge FC beat Panama’s Tauro FC 2-1 to advance to the Concacaf League quarterfinals Tuesday night.
Daniel Krutzen scored a penalty in the 91st minute to send Hamilton’s club to the next round. Earlier Molham Babouli had scored Forge FC in the 11th minute before Edwin Aguilar equalized for the hosts seven minutes later.
“We’re happy to have gotten this win and we hope we can keep on writing some of these magical moments for our city, for our club, for our supporters,” said Forge FC coach Bobby Smyrniotis following the game.
“I know we’re a team that can use depth and use players in different situations and I think that keeps coming out to our advantage and the guys believe in that.”
Krutzen’s late strike means Forge FC will face the winner of Waterhouse vs Arcahaie later this much for a place in the semifinals and for a berth into the 2021 Concacaf Champions League.
