Forge FC beat HFX Wanderers 3-0 in Canadian Premier League action in Hamilton Saturday, July 27.
Kwasi Poku opened the scoring for the Forge FC in the 15th minute. And the Hamilton club didn’t look back from there. Poku scored his, and his club’s, second goal in the 28th minute. And Nana Opoku Ampomah finished the scoring in the 69th minute.
Forge FC happy without possession
HFX Wanderers were unable to mount any tangible response despite having more possession and more shots than their hosts.
“You look at some games a little bit differently sometimes, and you just look at the history over the last few games with Halifax and we’ve dominated a lot of the play and possession and they’ve been able to hit us on the counterattack,” said Forge coach Bobby Smyrniotis after the game. “Sometimes, it’s not a bad thing to flip the script in many ways – make the opponent feel comfortable – but really it’s uncomfortable for them.”

The win keeps Forge FC in fourth position in the the CPL table, while the defeat leaves Wanderers in seventh, six points off sixth.
