FC Edmonton has retained midfielder Raúl Tito for the 2021 season, the club announced today.

This will be the 23-year-old’s second contract with FC Edmonton. After being signed to play with the
Eddies in 2020, the Peruvian international was unable to obtain entry into Canada and join the side for the 2020 season (Island Games) due to travel restrictions put in place as a result of the COVID 19 pandemic. Both Tito and FC Edmonton then took steps to restructure his contract and secure his place on the roster for 2021. He was then loaned to Santos Nasca in Peru so he could continue to train and play in competitive matches awaiting his immigration to Canada for 2021 pre-season training. While with Santos Nasca, Tito made eight appearances and scored one goal.

“It will be great to finally get Raul to Canada and integrate him into the team,” said Alan Koch, Head
Coach. “Thankfully, he has been able to play matches back in Peru this season, and we look forward to welcoming him to Edmonton. His dynamic ability and attacking creativeness will give us an additional attacking tool in 2021.”

Born and raised in Lima, Peru, the 5’4, 126-pound midfielder is a product of the academy of Peruvian Primera Division side Sports Boys. In 2014, Tito made his professional debut for Sports Boys in the Peruvian Segunda Division in a 1-1 draw against Carlos A. Mannucci.

Tito has featured 46 times in the Peruvian first division and has featured twice in the historic
tournament, Copa Sudamericana. The 23-year-old winger has international experience as he
represented Peru at the U-20 level.

Before signing with FC Edmonton, Tito featured 10 times for Cienciano and prior to that he featured 30 times for Sport Rosario.
