Concacaf announced the Men’s Olympic Soccer Qualifiers will take place in Guadalajara, Mexico, from March 18 to 30, 2021.
The competition was initially scheduled for March 2020. But due to the pandemic and the postponement of the Tokyo Summer Olympic Games, it was rescheduled for 2021.
The tournament will consist of eight U23 men’s national teams.
Canada will play Honduras, El Salvador and Haiti in the group stage, hoping to progress to the semifinals and then the final. Mexico, USA, Costa Rica and Dominican Republic make up the other group.
The two finalists will advance to the the Men’s Olympic Football Tournament at the Tokyo Summer Games, scheduled for later this year.
Two host venues will be used for the competition – the Jalisco and Akron Stadiums. A schedule of matches is yet to be released.
