Cavalry FC announced Wednesday the re-signing of midfielder Nik Ledgerwood, defender Mason Trafford, attacking midfielder Sergio Camargo, goalkeeper Marco Carducci and forward Aribim Pepple.
“We are delighted to have a strong spine of our team already committed to the 2020 and beyond seasons,” said Tommy Wheeldon Jr. via a club statement Wednesday. “This continuity helps continue to build our culture and playing style.”
Captains Ledgerwood, 34, and Trafford, 33, are two of Cavalry FC’s veterans and are seen by Wheeldon Jr. to be key leaders in his squad.
23-year-old Carducci enjoyed the CPL’s inaugural season notching up nine clean sheets in the league, earning a Canadian men’s team call up in August and receiving a CPL Goalkeeper of the Year award nomination.
Camargo became one of the Cavs most dynamic attackers in 2019, scoring eight goals in all competitions in 2019. A couple injuries curtailed his contributions mid-season.
Pepple made eight league appearances after signing with the Calgary club in August. Prior to that, the 16-year-old had a successful 2019 season with Calgary Foothills FC in USL League Two.
Cavalry FC also announced other members of the 2019 squad have options to continue playing for the club in 2020, but those contracts are currently under negotiations.
