Canada were eliminated from the 2017 CONCACAF Gold Cup after a 2-1 to Jamaica in the quarter-finals Thursday
Canada fell behind early to a sixth minute strike by Shaun Francis. Romario Williams put Jamaica two goals up shortly after half-time.
Junior Hoillet scored a long range effort for Canada with half an hour to go. But, Canada were unable to find an equalizer, even after applying a considerable pressure in the final 20 minutes.
“I am satisfied with the effort, the players left everything on the pitch. As a coach, you can’t ask for more,” said Canada Head Coach Octavio Zambrano. “Definitely the effort and desire to win was there. For that, I am satisfied, but also not satisfied because of the score.”
Canada will play Jamaica again in friendly match at BMO Field in Toronto Saturday Sept 2. Get tickets.
