Cavalry FC beat Pacific FC 2-1 to move top of the Canadian Premier League table and secured a playoff spot at ATCO Field in Calgary Thursday.
Dutch defender Daan Klomp opened the scoring for the hosts with a header in the 6th minute. And Canadian David Norman Jr. curled in a free kick to get the Cavs’ second in the 71st minute. Sean Young scored a consolation goal for the visitors in the 89th minute.
“That’s one of the best performances of the season,” said Cavalry FC head coach Tommy Wheeldon Jr. after the match. “The lads were brilliant today. Every man out there, they were just brilliant. They stuck to their game plan and won their individual duals.”
Cavalry FC next plays Valour FC in Canadian Premier League action Saturday, October 30. Pacific FC next plays FC Edmonton Tuesday, October 26.
