Preparations for Calgary Foothills FC’s third season in the Premier Development League are in full swing.
Head coach Tommy Wheeldon Jr. is hoping to bolster a squad that progressed all the way to the PDL championship final last season.
“We’ve got a good majority of guys coming back, other than my whole back line,” said Wheeldon, after a Saturday morning training session last week.
Wheeldon and his coaching staff have been working with the club’s prospective players over the past few weeks. Foothills FC will also be hosting open try-outs on April 1 and 2, where the club hopes to find players worthy of signing.

“You want to unearth something you don’t have,” said Wheeldon, who also serves as the Foothills Soccer technical director. “We’re looking for players that are fit, focused, technical and can add to our culture. It’s a short summer season. We want to make sure the culture that we have is fostered.”
