Switzerland beat Colombia 4-3 in a penalty shootout at Vancouver’s BC Place to advance to the quarter-finals against Argentina.
After Colombia’s Davinson Sanchez hit the crossbar and Switzerland’s Manuel Akanji shot over, Swiss goalkeeper Gregor Kobel made a decisive save against Cucho Hernandez. Granit Xhaka, Zeki Amdouni, Cedric Itten, and Ruben Vargas all scored their penalties to secure the victory for Switzerland.
