Canada beat Ukraine 4-2 in the first match of the Canadian Shield tournament at BMO Field Saturday.
Jonathan David (2), Promise David and Tajon Buchanan scored to give the hosts a 4-0 lead, before Ilya Zabarnyi and Oleksandr Zinchenko scored late for the visitors.

The Canadian Shield tournament is a set of friendly fixtures designed to help Canada prepare for this month’s Concacaf Gold Cup and next year’s World Cup.
Canada will next face Côte d’Ivoire Tuesday, while Ukraine will face New Zealand earlier the same day.
