Three first half goals helped power a dominant Atletico Ottawa to a 4-1 victory over Vancouver FC at Willoughby Community Park Stadium in Langley, BC Sunday afternoon.
The eagles came close to striking first, but Henri Gobout’s close-range strike was blocked off the line by Noah Abatneh in the 13th minute.

Just seven minutes later, it was Atletico that found the opener. David Rodriguez picked up the ball around midfield and darted through the Vancouver defence before hammering a shot into the bottom right corner.
Rodriguez wasn’t done there, as he got on the ball again in the 37th minute and went past four Vancouver defenders before finding Kevin dos Santos who made no mistake doubling the lead past Callum Irving.
Atletico would make it 3-0 with three minutes to go in the half. Irving misplayed a clearing attempt at the top of his box and Ballou Tabla was the first to react, passing it into the open goal.

Halftime substitute Terran Campbell pulled Vancouver back within two in the 66th minute, as — sent him in alone and the striker calmly finished it past a sprawling Nathan Ingham.
However, that would be as close as they would get on the afternoon, as Monty Patterson found his first goal for Ottawa in the 83rd minute after pouncing on a rebound inside the six-yard box.

The result spoils the debut for former Vancouver Whitecaps midfielder Nicolas Mezquida who started for Vancouver FC and played 87 minutes for the Langley based club that is still searching for their first points of the season.
Meanwhile, Ottawa built on their draw with the Halifax Wanderers last week to move to four points so far in the young campaign.
