Canada beat Suriname 3-0 in the second leg of their Concacaf Nations League quarterfinal in Toronto Tuesday.
The Canadian men won the tie 4-0 on aggregate and move on to the Nations League Finals held in California in March where they’ll meet Mexico in the semifinals, hoping to reach the final three days later. The victory also qualifies Canada for the 2025 Gold Cup.
Jacob Shaffelburg scored twice and Jonathan David once. David now the all-time leading goalscorer for the Canadian men’s national team.
“He seems to score every match,” said Canada coach Jesse Marsch of David. “He’s dangerous every match. He sets up goals. He’s a complete player.”
Tuesday’s win over Suriname is Canada’s last match of the 2024.
