Cavalry FC announced the signing of 20-year-old Jamaican-born Canadian forward Lowell Wright Thursday.
The Calgary club currently sits in sixth place in the 2024 Canadian Premier League table. And they have struggled for goals due in part to numerous injuries in its forward positions.
Wright’s signing is an effort to bolster Cavalry’s attack as it heads into the second half of the league season.
“Lowell is the type of profile I love working with,” said Cavalry FC head coach Tommy Wheeldon Jr., via a club statement. “He is young and talented, with a high ceiling of potential. He’s already had success in the CPL in his early years, and I’m sure our supporters will be excited to see his talent once again, this time in our colours.

“He will add more attacking options and will be a goal threat for us as we enter the business end of the season.”
Lowell looking to grow with Cavalry FC
Lowell spent much of his youth career playing for Toronto FC’s academy. He spent three seasons with CPL club York United FC from 2020 to 2022, where he scored seven goals in 44 appearances.
Lowell then moved to Vancouver Whitecaps FC 2 of MLS Next Pro for three seasons, where he tallied seven goals in 18 appearances.
He has represented Canada’s U-20 Men’s National Team six times, scoring two goals at the 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship.
“Joining Cavalry is huge for me both on and off the pitch,” said Wright, via the club statement. “My father emigrated to Calgary from Jamaica in the 1980s, and many of my family have called Calgary home for more than 30 years.

Working with Tommy is something I take great pride in, and this is the perfect environment for me to take the next steps in my career. I can’t wait to win and grow as a player.”
