York United came from behind to beat Valour FC 2-1 in Canadian Premier League action Sunday afternoon.
Forward Lowell Wright scored a brace in six second half minutes as York United FC bounced back after trailing 0-1at halftime. The hosts continued to embrace the spirit of the Canadian Premier League, naming 10 Canadians in its starting 11 roster.
York United remain in fourth place, the final playoff spot, and extended their lead over HFX Wanderers in the CPL table by four points. HFX have a game in hand over York United but the push for the playoff positions are heating up.
York United will look to build on their lead over Halifax’s club as they host the east coast team Sunday, October 3 in what could be a crucial fixture with eight games remaining to be played. Sunday is the last time these two teams play each other in the regular season.
