The format and draw procedure for the 2024 TELUS Canadian Championship format was announce by Canada Soccer Thursday.
The annual national cup competition will feature 14 clubs, including the three Major League Soccer clubs, eight Canadian Premier League clubs and three semi-pro clubs.
The competition will run parallel to all league regular seasons, kicking off in April and ending in September.
Both single-game and two-legs to be used
The first round will be played in a single-match format with 12 clubs playing in West and East regionalized brackets. These first round matches will be played between April 23 and May 1.

The six winners will advance to the quarterfinals, joining 2023 Canadian Championship winners Vancouver Whitecaps FC and 2023 finalists CF Montréal who receive first-round byes. The quarter finals will be played in two-match home and away ties in May.
The four winners will advance to the semifinals which will also be played in two-legged ties in July and August.
The 2024 TELUS Canadian Championship Final will be played as a single match in late September.
The draw for the competition will be made during a closed-door event Friday, Feb. 23.
